Ziva's terminal NCIS episode: What happened?
NCIS's tenth flavor finale saw Ziva, Tony Di Nozzo (Michael Weatherly) and McGee (Sean Murray) all resign their posts in social club to save boss Gibbs (Mark Harmon), who'd been accused of concealing evidence and obstruction of justice.
The charges were subsequently dropped, with Tony and McGee reinstated every bit NCIS agents. Ziva, though, has relocated to Israel and, following the recent decease of her father, decides to exit her old life behind and start afresh in season 11, episode two, 'By, Nowadays, and Future'.
This marked De Pablo's departure from the series, but two years later and the character's fate was revisited, with season thirteen'south 'Family First' seeing Ziva's farmhouse destroyed in a mortar attack ordered by decadent CIA amanuensis Trent Kort (David Dayan Fisher).
Ziva was assumed to be dead, though her torso was never found. It was also revealed that she'd become meaning past Di Nozzo shortly before they'd cut ties, with Michael Weatherley'south own NCIS exit beingness explained as Di Nozzo retiring to spend more fourth dimension with his daughter.
Given the ambiguous nature of Ziva'due south apparent demise though, conspiracy theories persisted both on and off-screen that she might've survived. In a subsequent interview with Tv Guide, she insisted that her decision to quit the show was "a personal affair, and I'd rather exit it at that".
CBS then-chief executive Les Moonves later on clarified that De Pablo'due south go out wasn't downward to a bacon dispute, challenge that she'd been offered "a lot of money" to stay on the show.
There was a hint of backside-the-scenes drama, though, with David McCallum, who plays Donald 'Ducky' Mallard, telling Digital Spy that he felt "frustration and acrimony that someone should simply walk out on us".

Could Ziva render to NCIS?

"There'southward always the gamble of [me reuniting with Cote]," Weatherly said. "She's one of my favourite people. For eight years, we got to take a lot of fun. Certainly, in terms of chemical science, I've never had anyone like that rattle my brain!"
The pair were in fact announced final August to be collaborating as joint executive producers on a new Telly projection, the criminal offense series MIA.
De Pablo herself has said she's open to reprising Ziva, on i condition. In 2016, the actress implied she'd turned downwards a previous opportunity to return – presumably for Weatherly'due south exit – and finally gave a little insight into her original leave.
"I love this character. I worked eight years crafting this character and loving her. I felt, or I perceived, that the character was not being treated with the respect that I idea she deserved," Play a joke on News quoted her equally saying.
De Pablo said she "chose not to" return to NCIS because of the "scripts not existence practiced enough" – but that a knockout storyline might still persuade her to render. "They were going to transport [Ziva] back to Israel and make her a sorry, miserable woman... and I didn't think it was fair," she said.
"Unless someone can actually write something fantastic, I won't become back."
